Season 1 / Hikaru - "The World is Not Enough" [The First Trial Projection]

Bow-Wow hadn't actually witnessed any of the preparation for his projection, nor him being taken away. It was definitely going to be a wrong place, wrong time situation…

Regardless- he does notice two others in particular as they're heading toward the projection room, and figures that now he's actually acknowledged their presence, they might see him and think he's weird for scooting away and not attending. But he did like Akemi enough! Ellie, though…. jury's still out on Ellie. She confused him more than anything.

So with his perceived requirements imposed entirely by himself he was going to attend.

He quietly trotted after the group- staring holes into the back of Ellie's head as he walked behind her.

For an intro post, though, this guy sure doesn't say anything of note!

Akemi didn't not like Hikaru from the moment she laid eyes on him. She had a lot of reasons, but much of it amounted to a mere gut feeling. And Hikaru himself had done little to dispel any of her animosity toward him.

She had already had some people somewhat dispel her initial reactions, two of them now being in this very room with her.

She had to see for herself what Hikaru was, either to confirm her suspicions or otherwise. So, she walks into the projection room with the others, a stern expression already finding its way onto her face before things had even begun.

Let's see what we can find.

A cool breeze caresses your cheek as you open your eyes to a stylish penthouse suite, looking out on a nighttime cityscape. It seems the wind is coming from the door to a balcony, which is cracked open. Back inside, you're standing in what is ultimately a fairly regular, if high-end, hotel room. There’s a large bed, a table, one of those bathrooms with a window that lets you look into the room for some reason, and even a personal minibar. The whole place has a sense of sophistication and style; even the light scent of sandalwood and vanilla candles is classy rather than overpowering.

Holy fuck there's a minibar Ellie goes straight there and throws it open before even saying hi to the other two.

The minibar… is totally empty! It seems to have been completely emptied of alcohol, toiletries, and anything else it might have stored.

There is a tray on the counter next to it, though, holding a bottle of red wine which stands next to two glasses. There’s also a paper napkin on the tray.

Holy shit.

Bow-Wow had never seen a room, let alone a building this big before. Memories of a dingy apartment, and an equally small family house were all he knew… this place can't have been Hikaru's bedroom, right? He's been to hotels before, but nothing quite like this…

"W-Wow-" Ellie unceremoniously stomping off to the minibar cuts him off- her actions also have him craning his neck painfully slowly to stare directly at her. He wants to say 'Please don't', but for now he kind of. Looks the other way, but he's definitely shuffling in Akemi's direction, pretending he's suddenly really interested in the large bed.

This is one of those beds that’s so big that you don’t know if they’ve invented tiers of royalty to name it after yet. It's made and doesn't look like it's been slept in. The bedside table has a wallet and keys laid on it.

"Aw, it's empty? Fuuuck—"

She slams the minibar back shut then perks up as she spots the wine on the counter, grabbing that by the neck and triumphantly holding it up. She turns back to show the others with a proud grin on her face.

"Nevermind! Score!! Let's pop it open!"

If Ellie is looking at the label she would notice this is an old vintage and a high alcohol content. This is the good stuff.

Emmy | Akemi

Akemi had seen numerous hotel rooms of this caliber before, so she looked rather at home here.

"This seems a more than tad above then budget of a darts-playing bartender." She comments idly. "We should avoid drinking anything in here, Ms. Carter, it is likely not going to end well."

Seeing Bow-wow going to investigate the bed, Akemi opts to assist, checking underneath the bed first.

It's clean and tidy down there! No monsters hiding under the bed.

Bow-Wow looks at Ellie. Then back at the bed.

"No thank you--" He mumbles quickly, choosing to shuffle awkwardly with the bed sheets. She better not drink that… He's really hoping she doesn't drink that.

He reaches for the wallet and keys though!

The wallet falls open in Bow-wow's hands to show the ID card of a man in his 50s named Ryoutarou Watanabe. Looks like there's a lot of cash in here, too.

Akemi, who's standing by him, might well recognise the name and face - isn't that the Minister of Justice….?

The keys are just a bunch of average-looking housekeys. There's not even a fun keyring or anything.

There is a corkscrew there! It also looks like there's something written on the edge of the napkin.

"Hmmm, what I'm hearing is more for me… More for little ol' Ellie…"

Ellie really might drink that. She's not so classy to understand more of the label past those numbers. She's taken aback by it having a year past 2010. That's all it takes.

"It's old as fuck!"

She keeps holding onto it, then looks back down at the glasses and the paper napkin on the tray. Mostly because she's looking for some sort of cork opener. Fuck, she always has the shit with the twisty-caps.

"By all means. I hope you won't blame me if it ends up being poisoned." She raises an eyebrow, "Naturally, places such as this would afford high-end drinks, but I would urge caution."

She frowns, and turns to examine the table area.

Ooh, money! Bow-Wow has never seen this much money in one place.

…He takes the money.

It is entirely possible to take cash out of the wallet, but no matter how much he takes out, it seems to vanish in his hands, only to reappear where it came from…

Ellie Carter

The bottle opens, no problem! The smell of high-quality wine wafts its way to Ellie's nose.

The writing seems to be a short note. It reads: We don’t want them to know, do we?

She's been SO BORED waiting DAYS between each projection with FUCK ALL to do. Obviously, she's going to drink. But she will read the napkin first. She does have eyes. While she's uncorking the bottle.

Emmy | Akemi

"The Minister of Justice…?" Akemi voices aloud. "Suzuki-san clearly either has friends, or enemies, in very high places."

She doesn't question Bow-wow for pocketing the money. She knows it won't be here when they leave, not that it will do him any good in the prison anyway.

Bow-wow

Bow-Wow didn't like that. He stares daggers in Ellie's general direction as she moves to uncork the bottle.

"Considerin' this is the guy's wallet… probably enemies? Maybe Hikaru took it or somethin'…"

He clearly wants to say something to Ellie, but instead he… dodges the matter by hurrying himself over to the balcony before the smell of alcohol hits his nose.

Getting a better look at the city outside, you’re pretty sure this is Tokyo. You’re very high up - this building must be at least 30 storeys or so tall. The lights from the buildings around shine for miles and miles; there’s a nostalgic feeling to the view, like a film or music video from your youth that you can’t quite put a name to.
