"You would hardly be the first to assume such a thing about me…Ms. Carter asked the same thing. It is a fair enough guess, given the context, though I am unsure why I give the impression of a scorned wife."
She is fully convinced this man's heart would stop if he wasn't doing something with his hands at every possible moment. Nonetheless, she watches him fidget with a neutral expression.
"A Garrett." She repeats, as if to confirm the delineation.
Enlightening.
"Even hearing the description of him is irritating." She won't simply take his description of the man at face value, but it sure sounded like the kind of person in a prime position to mistreat someone. Then again, anyone with enough motivation can twist things around to seem justified. She sighs a little, "I suppose as unapologetic as we are, we aren't very likely to be forgiven by these so-called wardens regardless of how much we believe they deserved it. It is hardly as though these projections allow anyone to live under their roof or deal with them for as long as we have."
And, given the display Kaoru had given for his first impression with the wardens, he seemed even less likely to be forgiven.
"I suppose all we can do for now is enjoy this horrid facsimile of 'freedom' from our respective burdens, before the judgment is made."
She decides that this is as good a point as any to get out of the conversation. She's had her fill of cherries and she has somehow avoided a full-on feud with this person who in many ways seemed her opposite. She walks over to the counter he's sitting at and sets the remaining cherries nearby.
"I, at least, intend to enjoy knowing he's as dead as can be regardless of what the wardens do. I suppose I will be seeing you around."
With that, she gave a curt nod and made her way out of the kitchens. Sweet as a Snickers, hm?
