"Heeeelp, they're strippin' away my human riiights 'n shit! I need a witneeeeessss!"
Kaoru's voice echoes down the hall, more like an announcement than an actual cry for help, lacking any desperation as an exasperated warden stands in front of his cell.
"Yeah yeah, what about the right to remain silent, huh? C'mon, let's get this over with." Bea taps her foot, looking much less pleasant than usual.
There's no smart remark for Bea, just a tight glare as he slowly exits the cell. Despite initial protests and behavior thus far, Kaoru is oddly compliant as he walks to the projection machine, more fidgety than usual, unable to stay still for even a second as they lead him along.
Once seated, he’s grinning up at the wardens. It’s a lazy, contented grin, putting aside the nerves. “I bet whatever they rip outta my head's gonna be fun, y'all ready?”
"I don't suppose there's anything you'd like us to know about your crime before the projection?"
He gets antsier as he's bound in place, legs bouncing and eyes darting around. He starts drumming his pointer finger's nail against the arm rest with what little it can move, tapping with increasing quickness as he's fully secured. If he could think of anything to say, he can't bring it to words. Not like he thinks the wardens are taking anything he says to heart anyway.

Despite the promise (implication?) that the rest of you would be free to watch, Bea shoos you away so the chosen prisoner can be guided down the long hallway alone. Once they reach the courtroom, though, the wardens are too occupied having the prisoner sit in the lone chair properly to keep you away.
So a few of you make the trek yourselves, finding the hallway only marginally less lonely with your company. The walls still seem stifling, their silence somehow out of place.
But the courtroom is wide open, if barren, and there's not much to be uncomfortable about until the prisoner of the day is secured in place. A strange...—machine? Somehow enough of it remains in shadow to obscure any useful details—emerges from the wall to hover around the prisoner's head, then everything but you and the wardens is swallowed by utter darkness.
It only lasts a moment, though. Once the shadow subsides, you find yourself seemingly somewhere else...
