[ Suzune - Sylas ] Busy Hands

Chula - Suzune

Well… Suzune had offered to help clean up any messes that occurred from other prisoners, to help out and keep herself busy, and if the wardens weren't AROUND anymore, that need was likely doubled. Even just from regular use, things kind of fell out of place or moved around. Just in the some odd month that she'd been here, Suzune had gotten a little better with her previously non-existent cleaning skills. Things at least looked… tidy, even if not perfectly organized, and she was less likely to leave behind stray splinters. Unfortunately, Suzune was not one for housewife skills.

Still, she'd been working to reorganize the toiletries shelf, cleaning up any scraps and tossing them into an empty box to keep that all in one place. It kept her busy in a way that didn't involve socializing. Even miss extrovert extraordinaire needed a break from chatting, and in truth, she hadn't been quite as chatty since the results dropped.

But that wouldn't stop her from plastering on a smile as soon as someone walked into the room, setting down her supplies and turning to give a wide smile and large "Hello!!" as soon as the door opened. Habit. Suzune laced her gloved fingers together, wondering if she should take those off if she was going to be socializing, actually.

This was… "Oh! Sylas-san! Hiiii! How are you, like, holding up? We haven't actually gotten to chat that much." She tilted her head. He… was also voted forgiven. There was a curiosity in her mind, of what his projection had been like. For all of the forgivens, actually. Why did people choose to forgive them? Was there a trend?

Whoa, it's Suzune! Someone that Sylas likes and isn't scared by at all here! (That's rarer than you'd think. He's a very skittish guy. Almost everyone here gets at least a 2 on the Scareylas Scale.)

"Miss Suzune! Hiiiiii! I'm doin' just dandy, all things considered! How're you doin'? All good?"

He seems, at least, the same as ever.

Oh, what a relief. The immediate cheer at least meant Sylas seemed to be doing well! She flashed a smile in greeting. "I'm holding up now, I think!! Keeping myself busy keeps any bad thoughts at bay, I find. Hopefully that hasn't been a problem for you?"

It was refreshing, to see him in good spirits, she had to admit. And Sylas seemed to be one of the… lighter people here, when it came to energy. That was something plenty of people could benefit from, herself included! He was certainly doing a better job at seeming happy, at least.

Suzune flexed her arm muscles, "I've been trying to like, make sure everything's clean and stuff! Clutter can be a real bummer, right?" Say that to the state of her cell, which had a stack of books and dirty towels piling up on the floor. But she wouldn't ask Sylas to help clean up here, so she pulled off her gloves and tossed them into the trash box she'd been toting around. "What have you been up to, lately, actually? I realized I don't even know your, like, hobbies!" She didn't know much beyond his name and personality, actually.

Sylas was certainly light, even if it was almost guaranteed that part of that weightlessness was because he didn't have a brain to anchor him down. But he was one of the more optimistic people here, and the Forgiven verdict had only helped to bolster that disposition. Good for him, I suppose.

"Wow, that's super organized of you! Nice work! I've just been, uh, tryin' to keep myself occupied!"

He laughs a sheepish laugh.

"I'm a pretty hands-on bloke, I'm afraid. Mostly I like doin' practical things- buildin' IKEA furniture, whittling little guys, buildin' non-IKEA furniture, workin' on cars- but I'm not opposed to a good game of whatever. Don't think I can make a rugby team out of this lot, but I got taught how t'play Go, and I found Operation the other day! Enough about me, though- what d'you like?"

Chula - Suzune

It was fine, it wasn't as if Suzune wanted everyone to be an intellectual conversation. Sometimes the dumb and silly ones are the most fun, right? She grinned, placing her hands on her hips with pride. "Thanks!! I'm like… still learning organization tricks and stuff, but it's been, like, a nice thing to do for myself." Even where she wasn't perfect.

Oh!!! OOH!! She pressed her hands to her cheeks. This guy sculpts things? That's so cool!! Gosh, it must SUCK to not have any knives around, huh? That'd get in the way of that. "Wow!! So you work with wood a lot, huh? I have to say, like-- Hold on a second!"

Wait a second, did he say RUGBY? It was like the magic words had been spoken, her eyes glittering with delight. "Oh my GOSH I LOVE rugby!! I like, played with friends a lot as a kid, never on a big formal team or anything, but I'm a HUGE fan!! I watch it a LOT when I can, I haven't played in aaaages, but like!! Oh, so my brothers-in-law are professional soccer players, and, like, they taught me both soccer and rugby when we were kids, but I always liked rugby more, hang on do you like, play?! Actively now? It's not like you can play with only two people, but if we got our hands on a ball, I bet we could make do with, like, maybe 6?" Problem was, she hadn't actually had the chance to chat with many people who enjoyed the sport as much as she did. The only other person she could think of was Bow-Wow, but he was a baseball guy.

"Oh, gosh, what am I saying! Sorry, sorry. But um, if you ever manage to get a ball or anything and DO want to do, like, a smaller casual match or something, count me in! I was usually one of the backs when I played sevens, but my friends were all better and more experienced than I was. Here I might make for a better hooker?" She looked Sylas up and down. Well.. He was huge, he'd be better as a prop. Not that she didn't mind going in for a tackle or anything. Her chances of actually taking someone down were kind of minimal. Then again, maybe that'd mean she'd be more useful in the back, anyway. "Mmmm, on second thought, I might still be better as one of the backs!"

"… But I guess for things we know how to do now, I DO know the basics of Go, but I'm not like, that great or anything. What's Operation? Could you show me that?"

I fucked up. I, Scylla, don't know a damn thing about rugby.

Sylas nods eagerly along with everything Suzune says, eyes practically glittering with excitement. Holy shit, Suzune rules. She was already rapidly entering the coveted category of "BRO" in his mind, where she sat (somewhat awkwardly, kaoru takes up a lot of space) with Kaoru. Yes! Yes!!!

"Wait, your bros-in-law are pros?! Who do they play for?? I can go dig up Operation and show you if you wanna tell me all about it while I find it-"

TO BE FAIR, NEITHER DOES CHULA, she just did some google deep dives.

Ehehe!! Suzune puffed out her chest in pride, always delighted for an excuse to talk up her family. After all, they of all people deserved the recognition for their accolades!

"Akira plays for FC Tokyo, and Noboru plays for Albirex Niigata! Noboru is a starter, but Akira still plays regularly! It's pretty silly, actually, when the two teams go up against each other, like, it's one of the few times coaches make Akira a starter, too, hehehe. Sportscasters made enough jokes about their sibling rivalry that it's something people look forward to! Makes it harder for me to know who to cheer for, though!" She'd been to plenty of live games throughout her life, now, and those two were a large part of the reason. How else could she be a proper cheerleader for them if she wasn't there? Either way, she was happy to chatter and stall while Sylas went hunting.

"They went to the same high school for the whole, like, year they were there at the same time. I was still, like… gosh. 10, maybe, when they played on the same team? Aahhh, that's nostalgic~ I still remember watching those!" She had been quite a bit younger than those two, after all.

"Whoa! Those sound like actual proper teams! That's crazy! You didn't think of ever followin' in their footsteps and becoming a rugby pro too?"

He pauses.

"…Actually that mighta resulted in me gettin' body tackled by those sheeps in your brain play thing so maybe not…"

Chula - Suzune

Ahahah, well… She scratched the back of her neck. "Oh, well… I did, yeah, when I was like… really little. They did soccer, but I would've gone for rugby. But, like… The truth is I was never really all that good! I'd place myself at like… above average. But I'm short, have pretty small legs, and while my stamina's pretty good, my coordination is only so-so! So, like, I wouldn't have have made it. I thought about doing sportscasting, though!! I would've thrived there, but things happened and modeling fell into my lap instead around my middle school. Who knows! If I ever quit the fashion world, maybe I'll go do that." It would be fun, and probably better for her mental health. But she was doing good where she was, so it'd be stupid to leave something for a place where she'd make less money.

Bodytackled by the sheep? Ahaha… AHAHA! She bubbled up laughing! "Actually, ahaha~ I guess that already would have been possible if you tried to play sports with them! I'm sure two of them, like, were supposed to be my brothers-in-law. The way I interpreted it after talking to Kuro-chan is that they were, like, supposed to be the people I care about and love." Mmm…. made her miss home a lot. She'd have to organize a big family dinner once she was back.

"Do you do woodworking stuff as a hobby or as a profession, actually?" She was curious, too! "'With your size, you probably could've done sports easily, if you wanted to!"

"Modellin' to tacklin'? It'd make headlines for sure! And-"

Whoa. Whoahahahaawhoa. Whoa. Sylas freezes as his brain kicks in for once in his wretched fucking life. It was activating. It was sending him a message. Now… was not… the right time… to bring up that all the sheep got murderized in the projection! It wasn't the right time! Don't tell her that, Sylas!

"-that's real sweet. Uh,"

Move on! Don't think about the sheep or her family or the implications!

"I'm a carpenter, yeah! Whittle in my spare time. Uh, I did sport a bit in school, but I was… pretty shy, actually. Got pushed around a lot. So didn't have the right disposition for doin' anything beyond like, the most casual of casual stuff, 'cause if a coach yelled at me too hard I started crying. That happened once and then my big sister went and broke the coach's nose and it was a whoooooooooooooooooooooole thinggggggg. Nowadays I don't usually cry if I get yelled at though!!!!"

He smiles like that's something to be proud of. Well maybe it is. I'll give this one to him.

Chula - Suzune

"Weeeellll~ A sportscaster doesn't tackle anyone themself, technically! Just talks about the other people who do!" She certainly had the energy for it! The bigger challenge would be using less casual speech and being more formal about it. But Suzune was smart, she could learn how to do that with practice.

What an odd reaction… Right. Maybe Sylas wasn't the type of person to want the information that someone she cared for died. He'd been hollering like a cartoon character in Vincent's projection, after all. Akemi's was much more tame in comparison.

Pfft, cute! Honestly, this guy was cute. She grinned, swallowing the laughter. It would be unkind to laugh about something that might have been a sore spot for someone, even if the PHRASING he chose was what made it seem silly. "Hehe… It's nice you have a sibling to stand up for you! But, yeah, I think that just playing casually with friends is the best. I'll warn you, though, like!! I'm SUUUPER competitive once things get going, so even if you win, I won't make it easy, heheh~ Just not, like, nose-breaking levels of difficult. I'm not about that." She wasn't one to shout at someone. Not unless she was genuinely fearful for their safety, anyway. (Toddlers don't have the best survival sense yet). "So you and your sister are close?"
