He's definitely cut out the weird projection shit he's doing. Feeling considerably more comfortable now he is a little certain she won't bring it up… his shoulders relax a little.

"I know ya keep sayin' ya ain't lookin' for forgiveness, Miss Ellie, but dont'cha even think it might help ya get outta prison?" Bow-Wow is… admittedly fascinated by her intense refusal to say she wants to be forgiven. By the way, he still thinks she's an actual pirate- "'Cause if ya ain't in prison it'd be easier ta break out ya crew!"
"…Yeah. They'd probably take my face or somethin' if I wasn't forgiven, huh…" Bow-Wow shudders a little at the thought, but then she mentions the brightness- which to him, was not actually that bright (purely on account that his vision was partially obscured).
"If the light is hurtin' ya eyes, I can try and find somethin' to help in the warehouse!" He offers so very genuinely.
Then he adds, in his awkward way to lighten the mood, "We kinda match like this, though, huh? My left eye's my bad side too!" He then remembers that Ellie definitely can't see that.
