Kaoru pulls his legs up onto the bed when Andrew takes him up on the offer, making some room.

“‘m always ‘n optimist, y’know, like Buddha ‘n shit.”
Not true and not right.

“Their lil machine seems moody ‘f ya ask me. Didn’t show half ‘f th’ murders, ones I went to I hardly ‘ven knew who died, then guys like me ‘nd Vincent ‘nd Robbie—from what I heard fer ‘im ‘nd ‘bout mine— got our whole ass crimes on display.”
Honestly, he’d be happier if Andrew were relieved to be forgiven. When no one’s happy with their verdicts, everything feels worse.
“Weird, ‘s like showin’ someone killin’ someone makes ‘em look bad ‘nd not doin’ that don’t? Hey, anyone smart ever write a book ‘bout this?”
He sighs, sitting his head back against the wall.
“I don’t ‘xpect… Geh, think yer lucky y’ didn’t have t’ see, everyone seemed freaked th’ fuck out after, geheheh... ‘sides, hardly mattered what ‘s ‘n mine, bet the wardens just voted that way cause I been pissin’ ‘em off.”
He smiles and sticks out his tongue at the end, making light of matters.
