"You have a crew? Huh, and I had assumed you were a lone sailor." Because that's totally the most important part of what Ellie just said- Vincent's not fully ignoring the rest of it though, he just doesn't feel the need to actually given an answer or comment on it.
…Vincent is quiet for a long moment at that last part, though, breaking eye contact finally to just… kind of stare at one of his cell walls for a while. Guess you must have really hated someone too?
"…I…" Was that really such a hard question to answer? Yes or no, Vincent- Clearly whatever he's thinking about is making him zone out a little again though, and it takes him quite awhile to snap back to reality. Eventually, he shakes his head, and looks halfway back to Ellie with an emotionally dead looking smile that certainly doesn't reach his eyes.
"Hate? Ahahahaha… No. But it's far too late for regrets now," he says in a low tone and mirthless chuckle. Whatever Vincent had done, he certainly didn't think he was in any sort of 'right' with it, nor were his thoughts on it… easy to parse. Weirdly, he offers a tired nod Ellie's way after a moment.
"…If nothing else, it's for the best that you have your convictions to stick by."
