Once again, after putting the Dog in the hole, the shadows grow and elongate as the two shadows from before form on the walls, this time with the shorter one stretched a bit more scarily than before. You hear two voices, with Gracie’s much louder than you’ve heard hers before.
“Vincent, I TOLD you I don’t want to adopt, and I don’t want anyone else having my God damn baby! Why the hell won’t you just listen to me when I’m telling you I don’t want it any other way! And this is just like when talked about therapy too, we don’t have the money for that!” Gracie’s voice yells furiously.
Vincent’s shadow seems to be remaining calm, though, and responds calmly too.
“I know, Gracie. I want you to be able to have things your way, and I’m just trying to see what our options are. Did you look at the third one…? That one might… still work for that, if you’re willing to. I know it’s up to you.”
The Gracie shadow bristles, but slowly her anger seems to become sadness instead, as the soft sound of tears are heard.
“Our children, should be ours, Vincent… and I don’t know why it’s taking so long…”
As if practiced many times before, Vincent’s shadow steps forward and hugs the Gracie shadow, who promptly collapses against him into it.
“We’ll figure things out. We can both get tested, see what the problem is, and… if there’s anything doctors can do to help. We’ll figure this out,” he says quietly.
Calmed, the smaller figure doesn’t respond, perhaps nodding. And then, just like before, the shadows go back to normal, and the room quiets.
