Borrowing Without Permission

Tatsuko Onizuka

With seemingly little else to do than aimlessly wander around the strange prison and admire the (boring) decor, Tatsuko figured that raiding the warehouse would be the most amusing use of her time. There's nothing more fun than digging through mountains of random stuff and taking things that don't belong to you. After all, no one's said she couldn't take anything, and she's yet to see a single cop or guard in this prison. And besides, what are they going to do if they catch her stealing? Send her to prison?

That being said, Tatsuko was rather unimpressed with the warehouse's selection of items. She's been shuffling through the different book options, barely skimming the title before tossing them aside, not bothering to clean up after herself.

Robert watched with bemusement as the girl with the devil horns dug through the shelves. He was a little distressed by her lack of care in tossing the books aside-- it wasn't like there was a librarian here to put everything back in order, right? But she seemed a bit young, and this was definitely a stressful situation. There could be worse outlets for frustration...

He crossed his arms and glanced over the remaining books.

"Er… you lookin' fer anythin' in particular, miss?"

Tatsuko Onizuka

Upon hearing another voice, Tatsuko puts down the book that she had been holding and turns around. Had she been looking for anything in particular? She thinks about it for a moment before shrugging.

"Hm… Nope, not really. I don't really like reading anyway. I just wanted to look." She sighs. "Can you blame me? There's nothing to do here! It's only my first day in jail, and I'm gonna die of boredom!"

She looks back up at the man. "Did you come to look for a book? Can't say I recommend anything here. None of it seems very interesting."

Granted, some people would argue that not having anything to do was part of the point of prison, but their captors seemed to disagree-- Robert would probably also get bored of this room eventually, but at least an effort at providing entertainment was made. Maybe not enough for a hyperactive teenager, though. Er… how old was this person?

"Ain't there some games on the shelf over there? Judgin' by yer current activities, y'might enjoy some, uh… 52-card pickup."

As if she'd get around to the "pickup" part…

"Eh, I'm not much of a reader, but it beats just sittin' around. I'd rather have some paper an' pencil, though. Y'seen anything like that, miss?"

Tatsuko Onizuka

Tatsuko laughs at the suggestion. "You're not wrong, that is pretty fun. Well, half of it is. I like throwing the cards! Picking them up? Not as fun. Someone else can do it. Why? You offering?" She looks at the man expectantly. She'll never turn down the opportunity to cause destruction and have someone else clean up after her.

She pauses for a moment, considering. "Hm… Haven't seen any, but I haven't really looked. There's prolly some around here somewhere. Hang on a sec, I'll look." Standing up and leaving the books where she tossed them, she begins rooting through the different daily essentials offered, once again not bothering to be mindful of the current organization.

"Er, n-no, not exactly… Ain't pickin' it up part of the game? Creation follows destruction, the duality of man… etcetera."

…Robert wasn't really sure where he was going with that. Maybe this place was making him loopy.

"But, uh-- thank you, miss. You got a name?"

He hasn't brought them up just yet, but he is looking pretty closely at those devil horns. They're fake… right?

Tatsuko Onizuka

Unfortunately, all the vaguely philosophical stuff goes way over Tatsuko's head. "I dunno, aren't games supposed to be fun? There's nothing fun about cleaning up, and it's not a game. I'm not a fucking kindergartener." Her attitude says otherwise, though.

"Oh, yeah, forgot about that! Name's Tatsuko Onizuka! Cool to meetcha and whatever." With that, she manages to fish out some paper and a pencil. "Who are you?"

Robert McCay

"Uh huh."

Maybe first or second grade then, he didn't say as he watched Tatsuko dig through the drawers with wild abandon. She did find what he was looking for, though.

"Robert McCay. Thanks fer findin' that, Miss Onizuka, just what I'm lookin' for…"

He reached out for the pencil and paper-- as if Tatsuko would just hand over her loot without compensation…

Tatsuko Onizuka

Tatsuko makes a face at the formality. "Gross, you sound like my teacher. Don't call me that." As if in protest, she yanks her hands away and holds the paper and pencil above her head. "C'mon, just call me Tatsuko!" She continues to hold up the items as though they would actually be out of Robert's reach, when he could easily reach and take them.
