“Whatcha got there, Miss Kuro?” he says as he inspects the gate.

A rusted tin gate with a red coat of peeling paint, causing the points of rust to blend right in. It operates by a pull cord mechanism just outside of reach of the sheep, but within reach for pretty much any human. It closes with a simple metal latch over a knobbed metal rod attached to the gate. Pull the cord?

"…Not an outdoorsy type, huh? Me neither, really. But the herding part seems pretty easy, at least?"

Robert looks over the instructions and nods, then resumes messing with the gate-- he pulls the cord.

Pulling the cord causes the gate to swing open on its own with a simple spring-loaded system. If you were to want to close it again, however, you’d have to push it back into the latch yourself.

Sylas Grey

Sylas is having the time of his life frolicking with these sheep.

"Hahaaaah, yaaaaay!"

He also may need some shepherding.

The amount of sheep circling around Sylas grows. The majority of the flock seems to be surrounding him, creating a sea of animals in a radius around him.

"I'm the sheepman!!!!!!!!!!!"

Emmy | Akemi

"Not even in the slightest." She responds, "I'm sure it will also shock you to know that I am entirely inexperienced with handling animals of any kind, let alone farm animals. I'm afraid I will be of little use to either of you, in both regards."

She heaves a deep sigh, and opts to take the satchels that seem the least hefty of all of them. Surely the tent and map will be doable.

She gives a withering stare to Sylas. Why this. She decides she will have to communicate with Robert for the vast majority of this venture.

"Someone far stronger than me will need to carry the wood and stones. And the rations. Choose your bag and he can take the other one."

"O'course, miss. If you'll lead the way I'll try t'keep 'em off ya…"

Robert takes the satchel with the wood and stones, and turns to hand off the second one to Sylas.

"Hey! Sylas! Over here…"

…He looks like he's having so much fun… Robert decides to carry both satchels himself, at least for a little while. He slings one over each shoulder and eyes the forest ahead.

A dense but thriving forest sits twenty paces beyond the gate of the grazing field. The dirt path has been trodden enough that a trail of dead, grassless ground leads your way, with the occasional tree root creating bumps and hills along the route forward. Should you enter, you see that the bright sun filters out, only flecks of light passing through the gaps and decorating the forest floor with their splendor. Do you enter?

Sylas, twirling his cane and having a delightful time so far, clomps over to follow Robert into the forest. He does this in a slightly wobbly fashion because now his boots have slayful heels on them and he isn't used to wearing that sort of thing.

"Whoa, nature walk. Cool beans." cool beans

The flock naturally trail behind Sylas, both from liking him in particular and the jingle jangle of his walking stick bell from wobbling around. Looks like herding won't be too hard!

Emmy | Akemi

Akemi turns her focus onto the map, at least hoping she would be able to discern the route and lead the way.

She will enter the woods, moving slowly to ensure the others can follow. She has a bad feeling about this place, and not just because it's entirely outside of her element.

This is after all a projection meant to outline a murder. Akemi will keep her eyes open for any signs of danger, as much as she can while reading the map.

"Be on the lookout for anything strange. I have a feeling this will not be a pleasant hike."

Not that there was such a thing as a pleasant hike in Akemi's eyes.

She will enter the woods, moving slowly to ensure the others can follow.

The sheep stay close, hovering around Bea and Sylas as you walk, no sheep falling behind the flock.

As you progress through the forest, your view of the sunlight lessens in favor of the darker ambience and flecks of golden rays that occasionally grace the ground. The pathway is relatively wide, though, so the sheep have no trouble traversing it as they follow along with the group. However, the occasional raised root causes a bit of trouble with walking for those of you who are less than graceful. The sound of birds chirping away create a quiet melody to guide you forth. Thankfully, the map isn’t difficult to follow, with each turn in the branch clearly marked and easy to keep track of. It feels like you’ve been traveling for hours, though, and your legs are beginning to grow weary. Yet… You seem to have so much longer to go to get to town, but your stomachs growl. Perhaps a break is warranted.

"Yes, miss…"

It was hard to believe anything could go wrong, with the sun shining so bright and the grass swaying in the wind… But they weren't exactly dressed for long-distance travel or defense. Best be careful.

…Wait, the Wardens were here too.

"Psst, why don't one of y'all take this? It ain't too heavy. That feller's got his hands full with the sheep…"

MILGRAM

Warden Ei, in the cutest frilliest suit you ever did see, heaves a sigh.

"If you insist-- AUGH!"

He stumbles on a heel and barely manages to catch his balance. Warden Bea, in a busty little farmhouse dress, reaches a hand out instead.

"I'll take that, sweetie."

Warden Sie is similarly lost in petting the fluffy sheep…

Sylas Grey

"Ough. Hey, I'm kinda hungry. Do we have any snacks?"

Sylas, who has been vibing with the sheeps and having the time of his life, feels his tumby grumby.

"Wait can we even eat in here? Is it imaginary food? Whoa. This is so deep."

Emmy | Akemi

This is hell this is hell this is hell this is hell--

To say Akemi was not enjoying herself would be the understatement of the century. Her absolute hatred of this activity shown plainly on her face, and yet she stubbornly refused to be the first to call for a break. Her legs are absolutely on fire in response to the strenuous activity, she's out of breath, she's sweaty, and if looks could kill there may well be an impressive body count to be had here.

"She…has the rations…" she grumbles, pointing to Bea.

Robert's not a hiker per se, nor does he have Sylas's seemingly boundless energy, but he works out regularly and is in good shape for his age. Even he's starting to feel the wear of the journey, though… and the young Miss Kuro looks like she's about to keel over. He stops by a tree and lets out an exaggerated huff and puff.

"…I dunno about y'all, but I really think we should stop, at least fer a minute. I bet the sheep are gettin' tired too…"

A few of the sheep do seem to be lagging behind now, particularly the more elderly ones!

“The sheeps are gettin’ tired! Let’s take a break.”

Sylas plops himself down on the nearest flat surface and makes a face when all his ruffles ruffle underneath him. Unaccustomed to the froufrou lifestyle, he is.

“Oh. So this is why ladies sit all ladylike. Hold on, I can be-“

He’s trying to sit daintily. “I’m a delicate flower.”
