Getting hit by a car is not a fun sensation, even if you wake up with no injuries the next morning. Ejected from the projection early, Kaoru wakes up in the courtroom alone. He seems to be taking this… maybe surprisingly poorly, perhaps because he’s afforded a moment alone.

At first, all he does is sit very still, head hanging as he puts himself back in his body. His thoughts are mostly somewhere else despite his attempts at grounding. He can’t help feeling like it’s raining outside, late at night, headlights rounding the street corner—useless thoughts, focus on anything else.
Looking around, he realizes it’s a rare chance to be alone, with the wardens all stuck in the protection like this. He also sees Bow-wow sitting peacefully asleep in the chair, and something about that pisses him off. There’s a childishness to the feeling—oh, so you just get to hit me with a shitty fake race car or whatever the fuck and I can’t even blame you? Asshole.
It’s a stupid feeling, he knows it; he knows it’s not Bow-wow he’s mad at right now. Something something about nickels. Did it really have to be him? Ugh, fuck.
Now all he can think is he wants to be gone before they wake up, so once he walks through these other distractions, he pushes up off the ground and leaves the room without a second thought, eager to be alone again. Besides, party crashers should always leave early, he thinks: it’s proper renegade etiquette.
So, once they all awake, he’s already on the other side of the facility. It’s not a big place, but he got as much ground as he could.
