Just as you’re beginning to wonder where else there could possibly be to go, everything around you shutters into darkness. A breath, a blink, and then you’re once again standing in the relatively empty courtroom. Any injuries or other strangeness incurred during the projection has vanished in like fashion. (Sadly, this includes the rat.) It’s all finished, it seems, though the wardens still have to release the prisoner from the lone chair themselves–
"AIIIEEEEEE!!!"
The shriek that fills the courtroom barely sounds like the Robert you know. He's a shuddering mess, writhing against the straps binding him to the MILGRAM Projection System. He sounds almost like a child as he whines–
"Make it stop– p-please, make it stop, it hurts, it hurts…"
He trails off incoherently, looking like he's on the verge of passing out. The Wardens rush to undo his restraints, muttering amongst themselves. How did this happen? The machine wasn't supposed to hurt, was it? It had gone just fine so many times before…
Ei now stands in front of him, looking for signs of consciousness.
"Mr. McCay? You're free to go–"
"–YOU!"
Robert– or is it someone else?– leaps to his feet and lunges forward with a snarl. He grabs Ei by the shirt collar and pins him against the side of the projection chair.
"You were in his fuckin' brain! I saw you! Now start talkin’-- what the hell did you do?!” He points up at the Projection System. “What’s this-- THING? What--"
The man looks around frantically at the unfamiliar bystanders, and the enormous empty room, and the straps dangling from his… straitjacket…
"...What the hell is goin' on?!"
